Design Process - Sled or Boat

We could design either a sled or a boat. The sled had to hold a small toy and be pulled up and down a hill using magnetism. The boat had to float in water, hold 10 marbles and be pulled using magnetism. It was a lot of fun watching all the designs being made and tested.

Learning About Magnets

We did many experiments using magnets. First we had to find objects in the classroom that are attracted to magnets. Then we had to test if magnetic force can pass through different objects like foam, carpet, foil, paper etc. We also made a compass using a cup of water, needle and magnet. In our last experiment we used balloons to see which materials attract static. We had a lot of fun learning about magnets.

Kandinsky Art

Click on the picture to view the video.

We cut out a tree out of cardboard and painted it green. Then we painted the background blue and then painted 6 pieces of paper for the ornaments. It took a while to put them all on. Kandinsky can hear music through art. It was fun. - Aubrey

The artist Kandinsky likes putting things into circles. We used a whole bunch of paper and tracers to make the circles. We painted the tree and background with acrylic paint. We also painted with glitter paint and gold. It was fun. - Autumn

Remembrance Day Art

First we drew the horizon line and then we wet the paper and painted green and blue. We made the crosses out of tape and when it was still wet we added some salt. To finish it off we added poppies. - Sawyer

We did art about Remembrance Day. It was really fun and we all liked doing it and it was an easy experiment. I liked doing it. - Anna

Orange Shirt Day!

The K-4 students participated in an art project for Orange Shirt Day. Each student chose words to finish this sentence: I matter because I am _______. Some of the words they picked were: thoughtful, awesome, helpful, kind, smart, etc. The project is displayed in our hallway and it is an important reminder that Every Child Matters.

Orange Shirt Day - Wednesday, September 30th

On Wednesday, September 30th Morris School is encouraging our students to support Orange Shirt Day to honour the indigenous children who were sent to residential schools in Canada and learn more about the history of those schools.

Can you guess the self-portrait?

We had to fold our paper and we drew our mask portrait on one part of the paper and our face on another part of the paper. Then we had to write positive words about ourselves. It was really fun and also challenging. - Kase

We had to draw our eyes, a mouth and our face. We wrote words like kind, funny, awesome, and thoughtful. We also drew our hair, ears and eyelashes. I really liked it. - Elijah
