Design Process

We have been learning about magnetism. Each student had to design a boat that moves using magnetism. Their boat must be able to move around a pool of water, hold 10 marbles, and still float. Students did a great job and we had a lot of fun testing their designs.

Testing Gravity!

Thank you, Mr Dyck, for dropping our pumpkins off the school’s roof. All the pumpkins had been cleaned out and carved except for one. We wanted to test how fast they could drop to the ground. We learned that all objects free fall at the same rate regardless of their mass. And don’t worry...no pumpkins were harmed in the making of this experiment! (Well, maybe just a little smashed!) Thanks for making science a smashing good time, Mr. Dyck!

Orange Shirt Day!

We are encouraging everyone to wear orange on Friday, September 27th. The orange shirts are a symbol of solidarity. Wearing orange recognizes the many losses experienced by students, their families and communities, over several generations, including loss of family and culture, language, freedom, parenting, self‐esteem and worth, and painful experiences of abuse and neglect. Every Child Matters.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAYCOB AND SOPHIA!

They agreed and we had so much fun. Thank you to all the students that made this exciting activity possible. We all had a wonderful time! Click on the video to see some highlights.

The Grade 3/4 classes went to the Mennonite Heritage Museum in Steinbach. We went to the Blacksmith, Housebarn, Semlin, Grocery Store and Windmill. We enjoyed baking schnetje and visiting the petting zoo. We were the only school group at the museum and had a fabulous time exploring everything on our own! Thank you to all the volunteers that made this experience so great!

Inukshuks!

The Grade 3/4s have been learning about Canada's North. They researched information about the Arctic's landscape, animals, and Inuit people. For generations the Inuit people have been creating Inukshuks, which have several functions. Guiding travelers, warning of danger and assisting hunters. Each student collected rocks and created their own Inukshuk. Click on the video to see their designs.
