Gingerbread Hunt!


I liked finding the clue in the locker. I really liked the Gingerbread Hunt! I really liked looking for him in the office. The most favourite part was baking them. My most favourite, favourite, favourite part was eating them. - Hayden

We found clues to look for the Gingerbread Man. There were clues in the library, the office, the locker, and the photo copy room. I liked finding the Gingerbread Man and seeing the clue in the locker. - Tanner

The Gingerbread Hunt was so much fun! I opened the envelope and a Gingerbread guy came out. We had to read him and then went into the gym, the office, the library, water fountain and the locker. Then we baked him. We ate them at school and I saved two of them for home. - Nick

Christmas Concert


We sang "It's a Candy Cane Kind of Christmas".  I liked the Oh Baby, Rock Rock Rock. I also liked the actions. We wore red and white to look like candy canes. - Hana

At the museum we saw soldier stuff and toys from a long time ago. We saw a baby doll and a Christmas tree. They gave us a cookie and a drink. - Carl

We went to the Morris Museum and we saw guns, skates, old desks and a old telephone. We got to pick a cookie and a drink. - Anthony

What We Know About Pumpkins!

Our class has been learning about pumpkins. These are the things we know:
- they are orange
- green stems
- they grow on a vine
- you can make pumpkin soup
- they make a jack-o-lantern
- you can make pumpkin bread and pie
- they are green and then they turn orange
- they have seeds
- they are smooth or bumpy
- they can be big or small
- they have thick vines

First we cut the top of the pumpkin. Then we took the seeds out. We separated the seeds from the goop. I dressed up as a kitty. Everybody had lots of fun. - Cadance

We took out the seeds then we carved the pumpkins. We weighed the pumpkins. Ours weighed 5 kg. I dressed up as an elf. We had lots of fun and we went to the other class. Happy Halloween! - Tate

Friendship Fruit Salad!

We added bananas, apples, pomegranate, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, pineapple, kiwi, blackberries and melons. We read a story called "Stone Soup". Mr Clace and Mrs. Blanchette cut the fruit.
Then we ate it and had a good time. - Ayden

The fruit salad was very good. We cut up the fruit and made a big salad. I brought blueberries. - Haylee

Terry Fox Run

We had a lot of fun. We played a game in the big gym. My partner was Stacy, Hayden and Rhett. We went to the park and had a lot of fun at the school. - Molly

We rolled down the hill and slid down the slide at the park. We were with the grade 7/8 classes. The hill was my favourite station. - Devron

We rolled down the hill, slid down the slide. We had super, super, super lot of fun. We balanced on the wood. We kicked the ball and my partner gave me a piggy back ride. My partner said I was awesome. We had juice with watermelon for a snack. In the big gym we kicked the ball into the net. We climbed up and down the hill. Ms Martens was taking pictures of us. We were running because we were raising money for cancer. - Liam



Mr Clace and Mrs. D. challenged the students that if they raised over $1000 they would dress up as a super hero. The students raised over $2500 for cancer! Thanks for your support.

Apple Muffins

I was the line leader making muffins. We put flour, butter and brown sugar in a bowl. We put brown sugar on top of the muffins when they were baking. Mrs. Penner pulled them out of the oven and then we got to eat one. I gave one to my Auntie Marilyn and my Mom. - Riley

When we were baking the muffins we used brown sugar, oil, baking powder and an egg. We put cinnamon on top. We each got to eat one. They were awesome. - Natasha

We used sugar, apples and brown sugar. They were delicious. We gave 2 to our mom and dad at Meet the Teacher. We had a lot of fun. - Logan



 Apple Muffins

1 cup white sugar
1 1/4 cup flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking powder
1 egg
1/4 cup oil
1 cup chopped apple
1/2 cup apple sauce

Stir dry ingredients together.  Mix remaining ingredients in separate bowl.  Add to dry ingredients with the least amount of mixing.  Spoon into muffin cups.

Mix together:
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Sprinkle on top of each muffin.  Bake 375 degrees for about 20 minutes.

Field Trip To Kolodka Farm

We saw alpacas. It was cool. We got to go on a zip line and a nature walk. I liked the zip line and I liked when Ms Martens gave me an extra push. It was fun. Alpacas are cute. - Matteo

 It was fun going on the zip line and the nature walk. We saw alpacas and we got to spray the alpacas. This keeps them cool. We got to play and we did a craft. - Logan F.














We learned about alpacas. They are different from a llama. They are smaller. They are from the same family as a camel. They come from the Andes Mountains in South America. I liked the zip line and seeing the chickens and seeing the bunny rabbit. The nature walk was fun. - Aylie

I liked the nature walk and the zip line. We learned about the alpacas. They spit green sticky stuff.  I liked the chickens and the bunny. We made cookies and used alpaca hair to make a craft. We also ate lunch at the farm. - Liam P.

The Caterpillar Cupcakes

Me, Jill and Aylie made the cupcakes all together with Mrs. Penner because it is fun. It was really big when it was finished. It was awesome and cool. -  Riley


We made cupcakes and we put them all together to make a big caterpillar. We got to put the filling in and we got to ice them. The legs were black licorice. Me, Kimberly and Abby got to make the cupcakes. - Andrew

Milk Spirit Week

Pajama Day was awesome and cool. I wore hockey pajamas. It was so wicked. - Riley

For Jersey Day we wore jerseys. There were Jets, Canada and Bomber jerseys. We had an Oreo dunking contest. Andrew, Adam and Leeya got to go into the contest. - Abby

On Thursday it was Wacky Day. Some people wore two shoes on one foot. Everyone had really, really wacky hair. Some wore their shirts backwards. It was fun. - Aylie

Monday was Pajama Day and Tuesday was Jersey Day. Wednesday was Cowboy Day and Thursday was Wacky Day and Friday was Beach Day. On Cowboy Day we had a Moo Off and Tuesday was the Oreo Dunking contest. It was really fun doing the contest. - Andrew

Our New Books!


We bought 28 books for $90.00 and read for 13184 minutes in February. Some of the books we bought are called "Yes Day", "I'm A Shark", "Geronimo Stilton", "Gilbert In Deep" and "Splat The Cat". I like the books. - Jill




I like the "Harry Potter Lego", "Yes Day" and "Flat Stanley" books. I also like the hockey book. I liked picking the books. - Adam

HAPPY EARTH DAY!

Each student in the grade 1/2 classes spent the morning making an Earth out of Rice Krispies and cleaning our school playground. They did a great job and collected many bags of garbage! Thanks for working so hard and taking care of our Earth. I'm very proud of you! - Ms Martens

Truffula Trees

The truffula trees are from the Lorax story. The Lorax speaks for the trees. We made our own trees with pipe cleaners and pom poms. - Nathan

We put plasticine on the plate and then we put truffula trees into the plasticine. We used pom poms. It was fun. - Desiree

There were lots of people wearing pink because they were standing against bullies. The soccer team was called "Pinkies." - Ayden

Liquid to Solid

We put white glue into a bag and then 2 drops of food colouring. Then we added 2 tbsp of mystery liquid. We squished the bag and it turned into a solid. - Liam C.







We were trying to make a liquid into a solid. We put glue into a zip-locked bag and food colouring. It was fun and we made it into a solid. - Cadance

100th Day


To celebrate 100th Day the grade 6 leadership class organized 9 stations for the K-2 students. They did a great job and we would like to thank Ms Wedel and the students for a super time! - Ms Martens



We did lots of fun activities. My favourite was making the fruit loop necklace. I had a really good time. Another one of my favourite stations was the face paint. I like 100th day almost as much as I like school. - Jill.



We had lots of fun and we did alot of games. We had to find the number 100, we had to skip for 100 times and there was face painting. - Natasha



I had fun at the basketball station. You had to throw a basketball into the garbage can. We had to do it 100 times. There was skipping and fruit loop necklaces. It was fun. - Leeya

WINTER ACTIVITY DAY!

I liked the hot chocolate. It was very good. We didn't go fast on the sled until we got the string pulled up. We went zooming. I tipped over. It was very fun. - Logan M.

Winter Activity Day was fun. I went on Ayden's and Logan Mazinke's sled. I went down and we flipped over on Logan's sled. - Logan F.

It was lots of fun. We went sledding and skating. I liked the hot chocolate. It was good. I liked the skating alot. - Aylie

Thank You Family Studies Class!

During the past three Thursdays Ms Rivard and her Family Studies students organized various activities with the Grade 1/2M class. All of us had a great time and we would like to thank Ms Rivard and her students for all of the work they did. It was very much appreciated! We played snakes and ladders. It was very kind of them to make the game. We had to roll a dice and move to a different spot. We had lots of fun. The other group made paper airplanes. One hit me in the head. They had to see how far they could fly. – Stanley

One Thursday we played laser tag. We had to crawl under string and get to the other side. If you touched the string you had to start all over again. We also made fortune tellers. – Autumn

We made chocolate chip cookies and we coloured. I put in the sugar. We also put in chocolate chips, salt, oatmeal, flour, eggs and butter. We ate the chocolate chip cookies when they were done. We got two each. - Abby

Trip to the Valley Regional Library

The Grade 1/2M class walked from the school to the library. Mrs. Ali read us a story called "Mr Fine, Porcupine" and asked the students to find a good fit book for their partner. The students were then allowed to look at books and tour the library. Thank you Mrs. Ali for taking the time to read to our class. We had a great time! - Ms Martens

DIPPING SNOWFLAKES!

First we had a coffee filter, then we dipped it in food colouring and you shouldn't dip it too much because otherwise it will just be one colour. Then you let it dry and then you cut it. Don't cut too much or it won't look that good. If you cut the top corner off then you are going to have a circle in the middle of your snowflake. It was really fun making it.

We dipped the coffee filter into the food colouring and we made snowflakes. We cut the snowflakes out. Then we glued it on construction paper. I used red, blue, purple, green and yellow. - Charity


I liked the way the other snowflakes turned out and mine. My snowflake is very cool because it is very great for Valentine's Day. It has hearts on it. I used blue, green. yellow and red. - Matteo

BAKING BISCUITS!

We used flour and sugar. We cut the butter and added it. We squished the dough and made biscuits. I liked them. - Adam

We used baking soda, sugar and cut the butter up. We put the biscuits in the oven and I really liked them. They were really good! - Natasha

The biscuits were soooo yummy and soooo delicious. We used sugar, salt and buttermilk and stirred it up. We cut the dough into circles and put them in the oven for 10 minutes. - Liam Penner

We used Q-tips and dipped them in the paint. We made dots for the snowman. It was lots of fun! - Aylie

Welcome to 2012! We have been talking about the things that have happened over the holidays and it sounds like everyone had a great break. Here are some of the highlights:
